05/01/81: In May the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Glasgow collides
with the Soviet cruiser Admiral Isakov in the Barents Sea. The
Glasgow’s captain reports the Soviet ship was maneuvering

Hi there, looking to get in touch with Mark (Robbie) Robinson, again, who was a chef on the Glasgow, 1981 – 1984. Lost contact with him after he visited me onboard the Atherstone, mid 90’s. I lost his address along with my wallet soon after. I think he is still in the Portsmouth area.
    many Thanks.

Found this site and fellow ship mates! Thanks Mac, Paddy, Bill Bailey, So many great memories on the Glasgow, remember the ‘key’ to the city of Glasgow that was one trip ashore, walking on the northern ice and chasing radioactive Russian battle cruisers.. Also remember us all getting geisha girl tattoos in ft Lauderdale, rabbits in Hamburg, driving mopeds off harbour sides in Bermuda..

You must also remember Scouse, spikey, jock, skin and others who’s names I can’t remember hiring a mini bus in the states, a toothbrush, pair is skiddys and 10 cases of Budweiser on the back seat, any other great run..

Omg just read memories of the glasgow 1981. I was a young & very naive WEM (R) at that time and was on board for the trip to ft Lauderdale, the encounter with the Soviet fleet…fast sleep on my bunk as we were rammed Ooops. Followed by freedom of the city in Glasgow. BTW I was also one of the two sailors to get shore leave on the polar ice cap in search off the illusive polar bears!!!
